Execution of Two Prisoners Related to Drug Crimes in Khorramabad

According to the human rights website Hengaw, the execution of two prisoners named Mohammad Paydar and Peyman Akbari Birgani, both from Shushtar, was carried out at dawn on Monday, May 15, in the central prison of Khorramabad.

Based on this report, simultaneously, the execution of Firooz Yarinejad Garavand from Kuhdasht, Lorestan, has been suspended for an indefinite period.

The charges against these three prisoners were announced to be related to drugs. The Islamic Republic of Iran is one of the few governments that continues to carry out executions, and in recent years, many human rights organizations have warned about the high and increasing number of these sentences in Iran.
