Extension of the Ukraine Grain Export Agreement from the Black Sea

Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, the President of Turkey, stated that the agreement which enabled the export of Ukrainian grain from Black Sea ports has been extended. This agreement, brokered by the United Nations and Turkey between Russia and Ukraine, was set to expire at midnight tonight.

Previously, Turkey had announced that it was seeking to extend this agreement.

In this regard, a Ukrainian government minister stated that the agreement has been extended for 4 months.

The initiative for grain exports from Ukraine was first established last July amid the global food crisis following Ukraine’s blockade by Russia.
