Ezzatollah Zarghami: Gasoline Consumption Has Surpassed Its Production

Ezzatollah Zarghami: Gasoline consumption has surpassed its production.

Ezzatollah Zarghami, Iran’s Minister of Cultural Heritage, Tourism and Handicrafts, has stated that the average gasoline consumption in recent days has reached 127 million liters per day, while the country’s gasoline production capacity is 110 million liters.

For years, Iran has claimed self-sufficiency in gasoline production and stated that there is no need for imports. However, in recent years, government officials have warned about the increase in consumption compared to production levels.

The lack of development in modern refineries with suitable and clean fuel, the aging of vehicles, and their high consumption, along with the increase in the number of cars, are factors contributing to the rise in consumption compared to production.
