Fact-Finding Committee: Suppression of Iranian Women is a Crime Against Humanity

The fact-finding committee: The suppression of women in Iran constitutes a crime against humanity

The first report of the United Nations Independent Fact-Finding Committee on Iran was published on Friday, March 8. In its initial report to the UN Human Rights Council, the fact-finding committee considered the actions of the Islamic Republic in suppressing women’s protests as a serious violation of human rights, which constitutes crimes against humanity.

The report states that Iran is responsible for the physical violence that led to the death of Mahsa Amini in September 2022, which sparked nationwide protests.
