Fars: Activation of defense systems in Iran was in response to drones
Fars News Agency announced that the activation of air defense in Tehran and several cities occurred following the sighting of drones and small UAVs.
Fars News Agency, close to the IRGC, reported that the sound of defense firing in Tehran and several other Iranian cities on Thursday evening was in response to the presence of drones and small UAVs, including the Orbiter model, in several parts of the country.
The report did not mention the origin of these UAVs. Previously, some Israeli media, citing sources in the country’s military, had denied any Israeli attack at that time.
At the same time, domestic media and social media users had reported hearing the sound of defense systems in various parts of Tehran, and Mehr News Agency also announced that the systems were countering hostile targets.
In this context, Abdolreza Sedigh, a military affairs expert, told Fars that several other factors contributed to the activation of the defense systems. According to him, during a ceasefire, defense systems are on full alert and respond to any sign.
He also mentioned the use of fighter jets to intercept drones, conducting tests and repairs on anti-aircraft systems, and implementing structural changes in defense formations. He said that during this period, exercises transitioning from a centralized structure to a local and dispersed model are also conducted.
