Fars News Agency’s File Against Women Without Mandatory Hijab

The release of a video by Fars News Agency against Iranian women and girls who do not wish to comply with the mandatory hijab has sparked a wave of negative reactions among social media users.

In this video, which was published by Fars News Agency on March 29, private and public images of Iranian women and girls are juxtaposed, claiming that these images represent the attire of individuals who are pursuing immorality under the guise of freedom.

The news agency has claimed that there is no end to unveiling, and if society’s sensitivity to this issue decreases due to the breaking of taboos, it is unclear how far unveiling will go.

Since its establishment, the Islamic Republic has not recognized women’s freedom to choose their own attire and accuses women who do not comply with the mandatory hijab of charges such as corruption and immorality.

The release of these images comes as Fars News Agency had previously called for the criminalization of unveiling.
