Fatemeh Rastgar Becomes First Female Boxer in Iran's History to Win a Medal

Fatemeh Rastgar became the first female boxer in Iran’s history to win a medal.

Fatemeh Rastgar, a member of Iran’s national girls’ boxing team, won a bronze medal in the 80 kg weight category at the Asian Youth Games in Bahrain by losing to Elenora Kankirt from Kazakhstan in the semi-finals, thus marking her name as the first female boxer in Iran’s history to win a medal.

Due to the limited number of participants in this weight category, Rastgar only competed in one match, and that match was enough to secure a medal.

For the first time, Iran’s women’s boxing team participated in an official international event with three boxers.
