Fazel Meybodi: Leave the matter of hijab to the people themselves

Mohammad Taghi Fazel Meybodi, a reformist political activist, has commented on the police’s approach to dealing with lack of hijab, stating that he does not agree with the police’s method of surveillance with cameras and arrests.

He says that a woman on the street, out of fear of officers or cameras, puts on her hijab, and later, in a place without cameras or officers, she removes it. This is not what religion and hijab should be.

This political activist, speaking with the website Rouydad 24, emphasizes that if the country’s economic problems are resolved, other issues will also be solved.

In his view, the fundamental problem of the country is inflation and the economy, and these root problems must be solved by the government, while the issue of hijab should be left to the people themselves.
