The FBI is investigating the impersonation of Trump’s chief of staff
The FBI and White House officials have initiated an investigation into attempts to impersonate Susie Wiles, a senior advisor and former chief of staff to Donald Trump
According to the Wall Street Journal, an unknown individual has been pretending to be Wiles through calls and texts to senators, Republican governors, and top business executives
Some sources believe that artificial intelligence was used to mimic Wiles’ voice in this scheme
In one of the messages, a member of Congress was asked to prepare a list of individuals for potential presidential pardons
In another instance, the target was asked to transfer cash
It is said that Wiles’ personal phone and email had previously been hacked, which likely led to the exposure of her contact information
However, security sources have informed the White House that foreign government involvement in this act is unlikely
The White House has emphasized that it takes the cybersecurity of its staff seriously and that the investigation is ongoing
