FIFA’s Rule for Changing the World Cup Teams’ Player List

The International Football Federation emphasized that changing the national teams’ list for the Qatar World Cup is only possible under specific conditions.

The 2022 Qatar World Cup matches start on November 20th, and there are less than 20 days left until the beginning of this tournament. According to FIFA’s announcement, the participating teams must submit their final 26-player list before November 14th. The International Federation will publish the player lists of all countries a day later.

The final team lists must be selected from players whose names were on the initial list. Additionally, FIFA announced that changing and replacing a player after submitting the final list is not possible unless there is a case of illness or serious injury, which requires the submission of verifiable documents and evidence.

Changes to the list will be possible at most 24 hours before the start of the requesting team’s first game, and the respective federation must inform FIFA of this by providing all player information and a copy of the passport.
