The spokesperson for the Fire Department stated that a short circuit in the electrical wiring was the cause of the fire at Gandhi Hospital.
Seyed Jalal Maleki, the spokesperson for the Fire Department, mentioned regarding the cause of the fire at Gandhi Hospital in Tehran that after extinguishing the fire, investigations began to find the cause of the incident. Ultimately, expert specialists from the Tehran Fire Department and Safety Services, after reviewing all existing evidence and traces, identified a short circuit in the electrical wiring as the cause of the incident.
He declared that this incident resulted in no injuries or fatalities and considered the previous claim that a cigarette butt was the cause of the fire as a rumor that should not be taken seriously.
Mr. Maleki explained that the electrical short circuit actually occurred in a 20-square-meter storage room on the 16th floor of the hospital, which led to the fire. The flames from this location gradually spread to the building’s facade.
He stated that afterward, the fire spread more rapidly through the facade and reached other parts of the hospital.
He warned the public about carelessness and said that a fire can occur this easily; it was the same with the Plasco incident, where a short circuit in the electrical wiring caused that event.
