First American Air Defense System Arrives in Ukraine

The first US air defense system has arrived in Ukraine

A spokesperson for the Ukrainian government has stated that the first unit of the US-made Patriot air defense system has been delivered to the country’s military.

The United States had previously promised to provide this type of system to the Ukrainian military to be used against Russian air attacks.

The Ukrainian government spokesperson described the arrival of this powerful surface-to-air system as a historic step and said that its deployment gives the military the ability to keep Russian aircraft away from their territory.

The German government had previously said it would send this type of system to Ukraine.

The United States had stated it would deliver two units of this type of system to Ukraine, and the Netherlands also promised to send two launchers.

The first American unit arrived before the anticipated Russian spring offensive on Ukraine, amid concerns that Ukraine’s anti-aircraft missile arsenal was nearing depletion.
