Five European countries see the Iran-US agreement as an opportunity for the return of stability to the region
The leaders of the UK, France, Germany, Italy, and Poland welcomed the Iran-US agreement after their meeting in Berlin, considering it an opportunity to reduce tensions, restore stability to the region, and ease pressure on the global economy.
In a joint statement, they declared their support for the implementation of this understanding within the framework of immediate and comprehensive follow-ups to lead the diplomatic process to a lasting peace.
The leaders of these five countries also reiterated the West’s previous positions on Iran’s nuclear program, stating that Tehran should not acquire nuclear weapons.
In another part of the statement, these countries emphasized the freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz and expressed their readiness to participate in a multinational mission led by the UK and France, a mission aimed at helping to reopen the Strait of Hormuz and ensuring international navigation.
Iran says the security of the Strait of Hormuz should be ensured through cooperation among coastal and regional countries and opposes the militarization of the region by trans-regional coalitions.
