Following Recent Events in Sistan and Baluchestan, Taftan Gold Mines Shut Down

Following the recent incidents in Sistan and Baluchestan, the Taftan gold mines have been shut down.

In the wake of recent events in Zahedan, a group of protesters gathered at the Taftan gold mine, causing the closure and halt of extraction activities at this mine.

Mahmoud Reza Rahmatian, the Deputy for Mines and Mineral Industries at the Sistan and Baluchestan Industry, Mine, and Trade Organization, referring to the closure of mining units in the Taftan area of Khash County, said that following the recent unrest, local opposition attacked all mining units in the Taftan area in two or three stages, leading to the shutdown of mines in this region, which were a source of livelihood, employment, and economy.
