Following the self-immolation of a young man from Ahvaz, the mayor and the head of the executive department of district three were arrested and released on bail.
The public prosecutor of Ahvaz says that the mayor and the head of the executive department of district three of Ahvaz municipality were arrested in connection with the self-immolation attempt by a young man named Ahmad Baledi and are now released on bail.
Mizan, the judiciary’s news agency, quoting Amir Khalafian, the prosecutor of Ahvaz, stated that arrest warrants have been issued for three other individuals, and several people who tried to create tension on social media have been released on bail.
The prosecutor of Ahvaz stated that the municipality acted arbitrarily to evacuate the shop without considering judicial warnings and at an inappropriate time. However, Mr. Khalafian also mentioned that Mr. Baledi had apparently procured some gasoline beforehand and kept it in the shop.
