Following Ukraine’s attack on Kursk, Russia declared a state of emergency in the region.
On Friday, August 10, Russia declared a federal emergency in the Kursk province bordering Ukraine and dispatched additional reinforcements to the area.
The infiltration of Ukrainian forces into this area with hundreds of troops, which began on August 7, is the largest attack by this country on Russian soil since the war began.
In a statement, the Russian Ministry of Defense said that reinforcements have been sent to counter the Ukrainian army’s infiltration into the border areas of the Kursk province.
The RIA Novosti news agency reported, quoting this statement, that the Russian army has dispatched multiple rocket launchers, heavy artillery tanks, and heavy trucks for transporting troops and armored personnel carriers to the region.
Alexey Smirnov, the acting governor of the Kursk province, wrote on the social network Telegram that the operational situation in Kursk remains difficult.
According to the latest official statistics, about three thousand residents of the border areas of Kursk have been evacuated, and the civil defense administration and social services have been mobilized to assist people being evacuated from conflict zones.
