Forced relocation of thousands of Ukrainian children to Russia

The forced relocation of children is one of the most horrific aspects of Russia’s war against Ukraine, an action for which the International Criminal Court believes the Russian President should be held accountable. The US President has described this action by Russia as the plundering of Ukrainian children, with the aim of depriving Ukraine of its future.

55 children have been returned to Ukraine in the past two weeks. Some of them complained about the dire living conditions they faced in recent months, while others said the situation wasn’t that bad. However, all agreed that they always hoped to return to Ukraine and are happy that this wish has finally come true.

Ukrainian officials say they have provided information on 19,400 children to Russia for them to be returned to Ukraine. Out of this number, only 361 children have been able to reunite with their families. Evidence suggests that Russia has established a wide network of camps where thousands of Ukrainian children are being held.
