The foreign ministers of the Gulf Cooperation Council member states say Iran has no rights in the Arash gas field.
The foreign ministers of the Gulf Cooperation Council member states issued a joint statement emphasizing the exclusive rights of Saudi Arabia and Kuwait over the Al-Durra gas field, which Iran refers to as the Arash field, and announced that no third country has a share in the resources of this field.
According to this statement, which was released on the evening of Sunday, March 3, only Saudi Arabia and Kuwait jointly and exclusively own the resources of this gas field.
This council also issued a similar joint statement this December, a matter that was met with a reaction from Iran.
Nasser Kanaani, the spokesperson for Iran’s Foreign Ministry, also reacted to the joint statement of the Gulf Cooperation Council member states on Monday, March 4, saying that making baseless claims will not create any rights for the claimant.
The Islamic Republic claims that the Arash gas field is located within the waters of Bushehr and the eastern coasts of Saudi Arabia and Kuwait.
Evaluations indicate that this field contains approximately 570 billion cubic meters of gas reserves and 310 million barrels of condensate, a type of ultra-light crude oil.
