Former advisor to Mir Hossein Mousavi: The system has no choice but to form a constituent assembly
Alireza Beheshti, former advisor to Mir Hossein Mousavi, the former Prime Minister, and son of Mohammad Beheshti, the first head of the judiciary of the Islamic Republic, has called for the formation of a constituent assembly, stating that the system has no alternative but this.
Mr. Beheshti has stated that the system must choose between two things: if it wants Iran to remain, it should accept this solution, or it should say that it doesn’t matter to it whether Iran remains.
He has said that the way forward is to form a comprehensive constituent assembly that includes all tastes and interests in an environment where free discussion can take place.
He was among those who were arrested and imprisoned following the controversial election in which Mahmoud Ahmadinejad was declared the winner.
