Former Iranian Ambassador to London’s reaction to the arrest warrant for Putin: A similar action might be taken against officials of other countries.
Mohsen Baharvand, the former deputy of Iran’s foreign ministry and the former ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to London, stated in a note regarding the arrest warrant for Russian President Vladimir Putin by the International Criminal Court that a similar action might be taken against officials of other countries by this court.
Mr. Baharvand mentioned in this note that, based on the negotiation experience I have had with the Ukrainian government, it is highly likely that a similar action by this country with the help of Western countries against some officials of other countries is not out of the question.
Mohsen Baharvand, when he was the deputy of Iran’s foreign ministry, was responsible for negotiating with Ukrainian officials regarding the case of the downing of their airplane by two missiles from the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.
In the incident of shooting at the airplane, all 176 passengers and crew were killed instantly.
