A former parliament representative says restricting today’s technology is not feasible at all.
Mehrdad Lahouti, a former parliament representative, in an interview with ILNA, in response to the question about certain sections of the Protection Plan for Cyberspace being approved by the Supreme Council of Cyberspace, given that this plan did not reach a conclusion in parliament, said:
The issue of the Protection Plan was raised multiple times in parliament, and we are surprised by this development today because the Cultural Commission of the parliament was responsible for this matter. Ultimately, the parliament is the best decision-maker regarding the Protection Plan, and the parliament, meaning the representatives of the people and the people themselves, should decide on it. However, approving and implementing parts of it, in my opinion, was not correct because its legal process is in parliament, and if something is to happen, it should occur in the House of the Nation.
My personal belief is that restricting today’s technology is not feasible at all because science and technology are advancing today, and we should look at our past experiences as lessons to learn from and use.
