Former Persepolis head coach: I was threatened with death in Iran
Osmar Veira, the former head coach of Persepolis, after leading the team to the championship in the Premier League, has accepted the management of Buriram, the most decorated club in Thailand.
He says that in the early days of coaching Persepolis, some fans threatened him with death on his wife and daughter’s personal pages. The only thing that upset me was the behavior towards my daughter and wife. Things were said that I don’t think anyone would like to hear.
In an interview with ISNA, this Brazilian coach cited family issues as the reason for his departure from Persepolis and says that despite a financial agreement with the Reds, he did not return to Iran because of his family.
Osmar, as an assistant coach, managed to win the treble of the League, Cup, and Super Cup with the Reds, and as a head coach, he also secured Persepolis’s 16th championship title in the league.
He says the worst thing they said was to convince your husband to return to Brazil alive rather than us having to send him back in a coffin. We hate him, he doesn’t deserve Persepolis. Maybe we’ll kidnap him, and something might happen to him.
