French Foreign Minister: Trigger Mechanism Will Be Activated If Iran Does Not Cooperate

The French Foreign Minister says if Iran does not cooperate, the snapback mechanism will be activated.

Jean-Yves Le Drian, the French Foreign Minister, in an interview with Le Monde regarding tensions with the Islamic Republic, said that to resolve the crisis, France and its German and British partners have a very powerful lever.

Jean-Yves Le Drian, referring to the possibility of activating the snapback mechanism if the Islamic Republic does not cooperate to limit its nuclear program, added that with just a formal letter, we can re-impose the global sanctions on arms, nuclear equipment, banks, and insurance companies that were lifted ten years ago against Iran.

The French Foreign Minister emphasized that if Tehran refuses to negotiate on a strict and sustainable framework for its nuclear activities that guarantees our security interests, we can activate these sanctions.

Previously, Abbas Araghchi, the Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic, had said regarding the activation of the snapback mechanism that this action would complicate the situation further, and if Europeans take such a step, they will face a strong reaction from Iran.
