From next year, Chinese and Arabic languages will be taught in schools.
Mahmoud Amani Tehrani, the director-general of the High Council of the Ministry of Education of Iran, has announced that from next year, Chinese and Arabic languages will be added to the other languages currently taught in schools.
He explained that the Arabic language to be taught from next year will differ from the Quranic Arabic, which is mandatory for everyone.
He stated that English, French, German, Italian, and Russian are currently the foreign languages taught in schools.
Mr. Tehrani mentioned that choosing the type of foreign language to study in school is optional and added that if a student wishes to study a language not offered at their school, they can learn it at institutes recommended by the Ministry of Education.
