Gareth Bale Retires from the World of Football

Gareth Bale has bid farewell to the world of football.

The star of not-so-distant past Real Madrid has ended his professional career on the green field.

In a surprising decision revealed on Monday, Gareth Bale hung up his boots and said goodbye to football.

The former Tottenham and Real Madrid star, who recently played for Los Angeles FC, wrote in part of his statement: After careful and thoughtful evaluation, I announce my immediate retirement from club and national football. I am immensely happy to have fulfilled my dream of playing the sport I love.

From Southampton, where I first touched the ball, to Los Angeles FC, it created a journey for me that brought immense pride and gratitude. Playing 111 games for the Welsh national team and wearing the captain’s armband was a dream come true.
