German Chancellor: We will not let Putin change Ukraine’s borders by force
Olaf Scholz, the German Chancellor, has promised not to allow Vladimir Putin, the President of Russia, to change Ukraine’s borders by force or impose peace terms.
Scholz told German lawmakers in Berlin on Wednesday, ‘We will not accept a dictated peace for Ukraine. Law is stronger than violence.’
He added that Putin sought to violate this principle with the start of Russia’s military operation against Ukraine in February 2022. Scholz said, ‘We will not let him get away with it.’
Scholz emphasized that Germany’s support for Ukraine in the war with Moscow will not diminish, and any expectation otherwise is a miscalculation. He also criticized Putin’s electoral victory, which secured him a fifth term as president, claiming it shows that Russia is not strong.
