German Defense Minister: I Will Not Sacrifice One of My Best Officers to Putin's Games

The German Defense Minister says I will not sacrifice one of my best officers to Putin’s games

Boris Pistorius, the German Defense Minister, says that during an interception conducted by Russia, one of the parties involved mistakenly spoke about Ukraine through an unsecured line in a high-level military call, and Germany’s communication systems have not been compromised.

Pistorius added that Russia likely intercepted discussions among senior German Air Force officials accidentally through extensive surveillance.

However, this situation has raised questions about Germany’s information security.

Last week, Russian media released an audio file of a meeting of German officials on the Webex platform, where they discussed the delivery of weapons to Ukraine and a potential attack by Kyiv on a bridge in Crimea. Pistorius said our communication systems have not been compromised, but nevertheless, an individual’s operational mistake led to the interception of the Air Force call.
