German Foreign Minister Stands with the People of Iran

The German Foreign Minister stands with the people of Iran

Annalena Baerbock, the German Foreign Minister, addressed the situation in Iran during her speech at the Human Rights Council meeting. She condemned the brutal suppression of protests and the deaths of hundreds of women, men, and children.

She told the people of Iran, ‘We will not forget you. We stand with you every day.’

Baerbock called on the leadership of Iran to stop the violent suppression of peaceful protests and to cease issuing or carrying out any execution orders.

In a resolution in November 2022, the United Nations Human Rights Council decided to form a fact-finding committee regarding the violence and suppression by the Islamic Republic authorities against the protests in Iran. Following this, the committee members were appointed, and the committee has begun its work.
