Germany accused Russia of launching an information war
Germany’s Defense Minister, in his first statement after the release of an audio file from a meeting of senior German military officials, accused Russia of conducting an information war aimed at creating division in his country.
Russian media on Friday, March 1st, published a 38-minute recorded audio file of a call in which German army officers discussed sending weapons to Ukraine and a potential Kyiv attack on a bridge in Crimea. Following the release of this file, Moscow officials demanded an explanation from Berlin.
On Monday, March 4th, the TASS news agency reported, citing an anonymous source, that in response to this event, the Russian Foreign Ministry summoned the German ambassador on that day.
On Saturday, Germany described the release of this file in Russia as a clear act of eavesdropping and stated that it is investigating the matter.
