Ghalenoei: Despite all the limitations, we could have advanced to the next stage
Amir Ghalenoei, the head coach of Iran’s national football team, said after returning from the World Cup that the national team had a satisfactory performance despite many limitations and difficulties, and if they had been a bit luckier, they could have advanced to the next stage.
He expressed gratitude to the people, veterans, and the hosts of the tournament, stating that they achieved good results and could have advanced if luck had been on their side.
Ghalenoei, referring to the national team’s problems, said the situation had become difficult for Iran and the preparation programs did not go as expected. He added that they made conditions very tough for us and did not let us achieve our goals, mentioning that we spent more time in the air than on the ground, especially in the match against Belgium.
The national team’s head coach also praised the players’ performance, saying they tried beyond their capabilities. According to him, in the match against Egypt, the national team recorded the highest expected goals in Iran’s World Cup history, and their performance attracted the attention of many football fans around the world to Iran.
