The gold medal of the Iranian runner on the Turkish team in the Paralympics was revoked.

The Turkish National Paralympic Committee announced on Wednesday, September 14, that the gold medal of Serkan Yildirim, the Paralympic athlete of this country in the 2024 Paris Paralympics, was revoked following a higher court ruling and at the request of the International Paralympic Committee.

Serkan Yildirim was previously known as Sajjad Hashemi, a member of Iran’s youth and adult athletics teams, and he competed in the 400 meters for Iran’s national team at the 2012 London Olympics.

The statement from the Turkish National Paralympic Committee mentioned that this committee took legal action due to an objection to the International Paralympic Committee’s ruling that had allowed Yildirim to participate in the 2024 Paris competitions, and as a result, Yildirim managed to win in the men’s 100-meter race.

However, the International Paralympic Committee appealed to a higher court, and the court ruled that Yildirim was not eligible to compete; therefore, he was removed from the 400-meter event, and his 100-meter medal was also revoked.
