Google Seeks to Settle Lawsuit Over User Privacy Violations

Google seeks to settle lawsuit over user privacy violation

Google has agreed to settle a $5 billion lawsuit regarding allegations of violating user privacy.

In a legal case in the U.S. District Court, Google is accused of monitoring information of individuals who were trying to browse using private search capabilities. Private search refers to using the incognito mode in Chrome or private browsing modes in other browsers.

According to this class-action lawsuit, Google misled users because they believed that if they used incognito mode, their online activities would not be tracked.

The lawsuit argues that despite users employing seemingly private or incognito modes in their internet searches, Google’s advertising technologies and other techniques still log the details of users’ visits and browsing activities.
