Government spokesperson: We have evacuated four thousand Iranians from Syria

The spokesperson of the Islamic Republic’s government says that within three days after the fall of Bashar al-Assad’s regime, four thousand Iranian citizens have returned from Syria to Iran.

Fatemeh Mohajerani said on Tuesday, December 11, in a conversation with reporters, without mentioning further details, that these individuals have returned to the country on 10 flights.

Government spokesperson Masoud Pezeshkian also called for the defense of holy and diplomatic sites and urged the future Syrian government to distance itself from Israel.

Previously, there were reports of the transfer of Iran-affiliated militia forces to Latakia in western Syria following the fall of Damascus.
