Grossi Addresses Board of Governors: Enriched Uranium Traces Found in Varamin, Marivan, and Turquzabad, Iran

Grossi addressed the Board of Governors stating that traces of enriched uranium have been discovered in Varamin, Marivan, and Turquoiseabad, Iran.

Rafael Grossi, Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency, announced on Monday, June 8, coinciding with the start of the Board of Governors’ seasonal meeting, that traces of enriched uranium have been identified at three undeclared sites: Marivan, Varamin, and Turquoiseabad.

In the Director General’s report, it was reiterated that the Islamic Republic of Iran has not cooperated in any way necessary with this international body and has refused to answer the Agency’s questions.

Grossi emphasized the rapid increase in Iran’s 60% enriched uranium stockpile and declared that he continues to support negotiations between Tehran and Washington, and the Agency will continue its professional role in monitoring the nuclear program of the Islamic Republic.
