Grossi: Very confidential agency documents have fallen into Iran’s hands
Rafael Grossi, the Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency, said in his press conference that there is conclusive evidence that very confidential agency documents have fallen into Iran’s hands. He had previously written in a statement to the Board of Governors that until Iran assists the agency in resolving the remaining safeguard issues, the agency will not be able to ensure that Iran’s nuclear program is solely for peaceful purposes.
Iran had previously called this accusation of collecting documents a slander and described Mr. Grossi’s recent report as unfair.
During today’s press conference, Mr. Grossi, for the first time, said that there is conclusive evidence that Iran has actively collected and analyzed very confidential documents belonging to the agency, unfortunately, this dates back several years.
We were able to clearly determine that documents belonging to the agency had come into the possession of Iranian officials, and this matter is very concerning.
Mr. Grossi said that usually in such cases, the agency allows the member country to respond, but what has occurred is an undeniable fact, not an interpretation.
