Grossi: Iran is the only non-nuclear country enriching uranium to this extent, and this is a serious concern for me.
Rafael Grossi, the Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), on Monday, March 4th, expressed deep concern at the IAEA Board of Governors’ quarterly meeting over the increase in Iran’s enriched uranium stockpile.
He said that since my last report, Iran’s stockpile of 60% enriched uranium has increased from 182 kilograms over the past three months to 275 kilograms. According to him, Iran is the only non-nuclear country that has reached this level of enrichment.
The International Atomic Energy Agency has reported that Iran has enough 60% enriched uranium that it can quickly reach 90%, which is necessary for producing nuclear weapons. If it chooses to, it can build six nuclear weapons. This amount does not include Iran’s enriched uranium at the 20% level and below.
According to the Jerusalem Post, based on assessments by some Israeli and American officials, Iran may be capable of producing more nuclear weapons, especially if it decides to make smaller nuclear bombs.
