Guardian Council Spokesman: Presence of Candidates' Families Abroad is Not a Reason for Disqualification

The Guardian Council’s spokesperson says the presence of candidates’ families abroad is not a reason for disqualification

The Guardian Council’s spokesperson stated that the presence of candidates’ families abroad cannot in itself lead to the disqualification of the individual, but the law emphasizes and specifies about the individual themselves, while there is no such thing for the family.

According to Hadi Tahan Nazif, the Guardian Council’s spokesperson, regarding the review of qualifications in executive boards and candidates’ complaints, the law has outlined three stages for reviewing the qualifications of candidates for the Islamic Consultative Assembly elections. One of these stages involves the executive boards, whose composition is defined by law, consisting of 5 trusted public figures and 3 legal entities who must express their opinions. The next stage involves the provincial supervisory boards.
