Hamed Ahmadi, the lawyer of Sahand Nourmohammadzadeh, was granted leave from prison for treatment.
Sahand Nourmohammadzadeh, one of the detainees from the Women, Life, Freedom protests, was granted leave from prison for treatment today, March 13.
Hamed Ahmadi, Mr. Nourmohammadzadeh’s lawyer, announced this news in an Instagram story, stating that his client, Sahand Nourmohammadzadeh, has been granted leave for treatment according to Article 522 of the Code of Criminal Procedure for a specified period.
Sahand Nourmohammadzadeh was arrested in Tehran on October 4, 2022. On November 7 of the same year, he was sentenced to death by the Tehran Revolutionary Court on charges of ‘moharebeh’ through destruction and setting fire to public property, and assembly and collusion with the intent to commit crimes against national security, and disturbing public order and tranquility by participating in gatherings.
On March 30, 2023, Sahand Nourmohammadzadeh’s appeal was accepted, and the case was referred to a parallel branch of the Revolutionary Court for review. His death sentence was revoked, but the charge of ‘moharebeh’ remained, and he was sentenced to 10 years of exile and six years of imprisonment by Branch 26 of the Revolutionary Court.
Mr. Nourmohammadzadeh denied the charges in court, stating that the protest gathering occurred in front of his place of business on one of Tehran’s streets, and he had no intention of causing unrest in front of his workplace.
The Judiciary of the Islamic Republic of Iran had accused Sahand Nourmohammadzadeh of ‘moharebeh’ for what it described as setting fire to a trash bin and a tire.
