The legal advisor of Hamid Nouri’s family has said that the final verdict of his appeal court in Sweden will be announced on Tuesday, December 19, 28th of Azar.
According to Mizan News Agency, Heybatollah Nezhadimansh has stated that if the verdict of the preliminary court is upheld in the appeal stage, there is a possibility to refer to the Supreme Court of Sweden.
In the ruling of July 14, 2022, by the Stockholm regional preliminary court in Sweden, Hamid Nouri was sentenced to life imprisonment for participating in the mass executions of political prisoners in Gohardasht Prison, Rajai Shahr, Karaj, in 1988.
Hamid Nouri’s appeal court started in early February last year and ended on November 8, after about 20 sessions, in Stockholm, Sweden.
The legal advisor of Hamid Nouri’s family has said regarding referring to the European Court of Human Rights in this case that if the preliminary verdict is upheld in the appeal stage, the condition for referring to the European Court of Human Rights is that all internal stages in Sweden have been completed and the verdict has become final, with no other options available.
Mr. Nezhadimansh has said that in this case, issues such as the violation of a fair trial and the violation of the basic and human rights of Hamid Nouri as a detained individual have occurred.
Hamid Nouri, under the alias Abbasi, was arrested four years ago on November 9, 2019, the 18th of Aban 1398, upon entering Stockholm Airport, on suspicion of involvement in war crimes and premeditated murder, with a court order in Sweden.
