Hassan Rouhani: IRIB has become factional and partisan

Hassan Rouhani: The national broadcaster has become factional and cliquish.

Hassan Rouhani, on September 10, in his ongoing series of meetings with ministers and vice-presidents from his eleventh and twelfth administrations, stated that the purpose of these meetings is to reunite with his colleagues and discuss friendly and sincere topics. He mentioned that the members of the government of Prudence and Hope, whether in the previous government or this one, are ready and willing to share their experiences and opinions to help advance affairs and solve the country’s problems.

The president of the eleventh and twelfth terms criticized the performance of the national broadcaster, saying, ‘I used to say the broadcaster is not national, it is personal. Now it has become factional and cliquish. A group has taken over the broadcaster, doing whatever they please, spreading slander and accusations. They are so backed that no court can do anything, and no complaint gets anywhere.’

Rouhani added that if disrespect towards people’s honor in the streets has angered the public, efforts must be made to rectify it and restore the atmosphere of dignity, respect for citizens’ rights, and public morality.
