Hassan Rouhani said Trump’s main condition for an agreement with Iran was to meet with me.
Former Iranian President Hassan Rouhani claimed in a speech on Thursday, May 28, that during his term, the main condition set by U.S. President Donald Trump for an agreement was to meet with him.
The former Iranian president, pointing out that the main reason for the U.S. withdrawal from the JCPOA in 2018 was Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, said Trump wanted to destroy the JCPOA at any cost due to his anger towards Obama.
Rouhani emphasized that although it was difficult during his time, there was a way to resolve things with Trump. He said the rest of Trump’s conditions were not important; he wanted to add some phrases to the JCPOA, but his main condition was to meet with me.
I said let me meet him, and if it goes wrong, I’ll take the blame for the sake of the country and the nation. Anyway, it didn’t happen at that time.
