Hassan Rouhani: I will soon publish my response to the Guardian Council’s letter regarding my disqualification.
In his periodic meeting with the ministers and vice presidents of the eleventh and twelfth governments, Hassan Rouhani announced that he would soon release his response to the Guardian Council’s letter concerning his disqualification from the elections for the sixth term of the Assembly of Experts. He emphasized that he would address the council’s objections so that the people would become aware of the council members’ understanding of the country’s critical issues.
The reasons for disqualification include the alleged insult to the Judiciary and the Guardian Council, along with the lack of resistance against the West and issues with implementing the JCPOA. This response is also because I believe the position of the Guardian Council is sacred, and this council was established to ensure that the laws drafted do not contradict Islamic standards and the Constitution.
If the judgment of the Guardian Council is questioned, it will harm our republicanism and Islamism. A minority parliament, minority government, and minority assembly of experts are not in the interest of the country and the system. Therefore, we must feel responsible, not remain silent, and encourage people to participate in all matters and support the system and the country.
