The head of Hamas’ political bureau traveled to Tehran
Hours after Hamas issued a statement rejecting a new agreement proposal with Israel, the head of the group’s political bureau traveled to Tehran to meet with officials of the Islamic Republic.
On Monday night, Hamas announced in its statement that it had informed mediating parties that it remains committed to its previous stance and approach as presented two weeks ago, and that the responses Israel has given to the mediators’ proposal do not meet any of Hamas’ demands.
In its statement, the group added that it demands a complete halt to the war, the withdrawal of Israeli forces from the Gaza Strip, the return of refugees, and a genuine prisoner exchange.
In its statement, the group named the Israeli Prime Minister and his hardline government as fully responsible for the failure of efforts to reach a ceasefire agreement in Gaza.
