The head of the City Council Safety Committee states that several hospitals in Tehran are on the list of critical buildings.
Mehdi Babaei, the head of the Tehran City Council Safety Committee, warned about the dangerous condition of several hospitals in the capital, stating that Imam Khomeini, Shohada Yaftabad, Sina, and Rasul Akram hospitals are on the list of critical buildings due to severe deterioration and neglect of fire department warnings.
He emphasized that these medical centers, being vital points, should be prioritized in safety and reinforcement plans.
According to Babaei, despite repeated warnings, Imam Khomeini Hospital has taken no action to mitigate fire risks or strengthen its structure against earthquakes. Ten of its buildings are in a very high-risk condition, rated D, and thirteen buildings are rated C.
Shohada Yaftabad Hospital, without implementing safety guidelines, has only contracted with a consulting company, and its main building is rated D. Additionally, the new 60-bed hospital construction project in this complex is still in the rough construction phase.
The official added that Sina and Rasul Akram hospitals have not yet received fire department approvals.
Sina is securing funding for the installation of fire alarm systems, and Rasul Akram Hospital is merely pursuing funding to reinforce its two unsafe buildings.
