The head of the Parliament’s Population Faction said if each family does not have at least three children in these five years, we will fall into a demographic black hole.
Fatemeh Mohammadbeigi, the head of the Population Faction of the Islamic Consultative Assembly, said if each family does not have at least three to five children in these five years, we will fall into a demographic black hole that has many economic, social, and cultural consequences.
She continued, saying that during this time, the number of permanent sterilizations in our country increased so much that 20 million potential people who should have been born were never born.
Mohammadbeigi said that Islamic Iran, which should have a population of 105 million today, currently has a population of 85 million, and we have succumbed to the global population war.
Regarding the consequences of this issue, she said if we once had 18 million students, in the future we will have the same number of elderly people, and we will need to create numerous infrastructures to care for the elderly, which is very distressing.
