The head of the Religious Organizations and Associations announced the revocation of the license of the Karaj organization where unveiled individuals participated in the mourning procession and stated that the head of the organization has been summoned by law enforcement agencies.
According to ISNA, Majid Babakhani, the head of the Religious Organizations and Associations, commented on the sidelines of the press conference for the second scientific symposium on religious organizations and rituals, regarding the published video showing unveiled individuals in a mourning procession in Karaj. He noted that there were no reports of actions against the sanctity of religious organizations during the first ten days of Muharram this year and said the published video pertains to an organization in the city of Karaj, unfortunately known for such behaviors. Therefore, they were warned before the month of Muharram because they hold mourning ceremonies on the street.
Babakhani said the published video is from the day of Ashura, and immediately, with the cooperation of law enforcement, the head of the organization was summoned, and legal proceedings against him are underway.
The head of the Religious Organizations and Associations said the actions taken by this organization were unfortunately planned, and the video was produced and published with a plan, which is why the organization’s license was revoked.
He added that the media team involved in distributing this video and representing it outside the country acted with planning and are being identified and dealt with by law enforcement and security forces.
