Heavy Allegations Cast a Shadow Over the Norwegian Royal Family
On Monday, August 27, the Norwegian prosecutor’s office announced that Marius Borg Høiby, the 28-year-old son of Princess Mette-Marit, wife of Norway’s Crown Prince, is being prosecuted on charges of raping four women and several instances of violence, and if convicted, he could face up to 10 years in prison.
The investigation into Høiby, the son of Princess Mette-Marit of Norway, began last August after he was arrested on charges of assaulting his girlfriend, stemming from relationships before his marriage to Crown Prince Haakon.
According to prosecutor Sturla Henriksbo, he is accused of raping four women between 2018 and 2024 while they were asleep.
In three cases, he had consensual sexual relations with the victims on the same day and then committed rape.
The prosecutor added that there is evidence, including recorded videos and images.
He also faces charges of secretly filming the victims’ genitalia, domestic violence against a former girlfriend, harassment, property damage, and violating court orders.
