Hemmati, Former Central Bank Chief, Says Government Should Apologize to the People

Hemmati, the former head of the Central Bank, says the government should apologize to the people.

The former head of the Central Bank stated that with this oil revenue and the emphasis that total exports have reached 78 billion dollars, an inflation rate between 48 to 50 percent is absolutely unacceptable.

The officials of the thirteenth government, who emphasized the Central Bank’s statistics regarding the point-to-point inflation of September 2021, why do they not consider the Central Bank’s statistics today and do not base their analysis on it? The answer is clear: because there is at least a 10 percent discrepancy between the statistics of the Statistical Center and the Central Bank.

Today we are facing a 48 percent inflation rate, which is a very poor performance and is considered a failure in the fight against inflation. Therefore, this government should not act as if it is controlling inflation.

In my opinion, they should apologize to the people and admit they couldn’t control inflation. A 48 percent inflation rate does not mean control. In very special circumstances, this inflation might be acceptable, like what happened in 2020 when revenues fell sharply due to the spread of Corona and Trump’s presence, and we practically had no oil revenue.
