Hossein Amir-Abdollahian has headed to Syria after a one-day trip to Oman.
This is the first trip of the Iranian Foreign Minister to Syria after the Israeli attack on the Iranian consulate in Damascus.
The attack attributed to Israel in Damascus has significantly increased tensions in the region, and Tel Aviv is on alert for fear of retaliatory attacks from Iran.
During Mr. Amir-Abdollahian’s visit to Oman, Badr Al-Busaidi, the Foreign Minister of Oman, called for de-escalation and prioritizing the voice of reason in the Middle East.
According to the French news agency, he stated that Oman supports the initiative to reduce tensions in the region and address various issues and conflicts in the Middle East.
