Hossein Taeb says the trial of Rouhani may take time, but it is inevitable.
Hossein Taeb, the former head of the IRGC Intelligence Organization, has stated regarding the trial of Hassan Rouhani that his experience in the Islamic Republic over the past 43 years suggests that while it may take time, it is inevitable. However, whether our priority now is to prosecute former officials, guide society towards solving issues, pursue the country’s progress, or even turn the economy and development topics into political disputes is another matter.
Mr. Taeb’s remarks continue a trend that has been repeatedly raised by Ali Khamenei, officials, and parliament members in recent months, identifying Hassan Rouhani as responsible for the country’s problems.
This is while Hassan Rouhani has become almost isolated following the end of his presidency and has mostly remained silent himself.
During Hassan Rouhani’s second presidential term, the widespread protests of December 2017 and November 2019 occurred, which were a reaction to economic instability, high prices, and the increase in gasoline prices. These protests faced severe government suppression, and many protesters were killed.
